The Stand Up SqueezyStraw™ Dispensing Pouch is a totally new approach to stand-up pouch production and is adaptable for many applications. The stability of the package is built into the design, creating a low center-of-gravity. As the user sips from the pouch, the center-of-gravity continues to drop, making the pouch increasingly more stable.
The prototype, pictured at left, was produced on a Multivac machine (www.multivac.com).

In this case the physical size of the filled package is approximately 4” wide by 4” tall plus the outboard straw extension. The extended base is approximately 2-1/2” deep. This produces a package with a volumetric capacity of 8 oz.

LOW COST

The Stand Up SqueezyStraw™ Dispensing Pouch prototype (at left) produced in an 8 oz. size is estimated to cost $ .04 (four cents) each. This figure includes the flexible packaging material, the print, and the royalty ($.005 per pouch for volumes of 50MM pouches a year). The Stand Up SqueezyStraw™ Dispensing Pouch can be produced in many sizes.

HIGH VOLUME PRODUCTION

Virtually any Thermoform / fill / seal machine equipped with die-cutting capability can be tooled to produce the Stand Up SqueezyStraw™ Dispensing Pouch. The 8 oz. prototypes were produced on a Multivac machine. For more information on Multivac thermoforming machines see www.multivac.com.

ELIMINATION OF NEED FOR A STRAW OR A CUP

With the built-in outboard straw extension and an easy-open tear notch, consumption of the product directly from the pouch is easy and efficient, eliminating the need for other accessory items such as spoons, cups or straws, further reducing cost.

EASY AND EFFICIENT EVACUATION OF CONTENTS

As the Stand Up SqueezyStraw™ Dispensing Pouch is made entirely of light-weight flexible packaging materials the user can easily squeeze all of the contents out of the package. Also, as the package can be at least partially transparent the user can see when the pouch is empty.

EASY AND EFFICIENT DISPOSAL OF EMPTY POUCH

As the Stand Up SqueezyStraw™ Dispensing Pouch is made entirely of light-weight flexible packaging materials, once emptied the pouch can collapse into a small, lightweight mass for disposal.

DURABLE AND PORTABLE

Stand Up SqueezyStraw™ Dispensing Pouch is produced using flexible packaging that is composed of a mix of several resins, e.g., a copolymer. This provides many positive properties including the ability to be thermoformed into the shape of the Stand Up SqueezyStraw™ Dispensing Pouch. Another property that is part of the copolymer mix is the durability and strength that creates the rugged portability of the Stand Up SqueezyStraw™ Dispensing Pouch. An example of this type of flexible packaging material is the film provided by ABX Films (see www.abx-films.com) that produced our prototypes.

TAMPER EVIDENT

The Stand Up SqueezyStraw™ Dispensing Pouch can be opened at the tear notch across the outboard straw extension. >>

Once the outboard straw extension has been opened, the Stand Up SqueezyStraw™ Dispensing Pouch cannot be reclosed, therefore the entire package is tamper evident. No one can tamper with the package or its contents without the user knowing that the seal has been compromised. In this way the Stand Up SqueezyStraw™ Dispensing Pouch provides assurance that the product is in its original state, just as it was when it came from the manufacturer.

CAN BE MADE IN ANY SIZE FROM 1 OZ. TO 3 GALS.

The patents for the Stand Up SqueezyStraw™ Dispensing Pouch provide for forming the pocket, whether flat or stand up, in virtually any size from approximately 1 oz. on up to perhaps 2 or 3 gallons. Here are some illustrations of those extremes. The image on the left shows a small pouch for shampoo, typically one or two applications. The image on the right shows a high-volume "bag in a box" dispenser for ketchup in a restaurant kitchen that could hold several gallons.
